The crash is fixed in SVN 23716; the code now checks whether the CoreFoundation
create calls fail, and fails if any of them do.

That was a separate problem, and should arguably have been opened as a separate
bug.

The fix for the crash doesn't fix the problem of the item being marked as a
URL; a separate bug should be opened for that.
