This is probably dumpcap being asked about interfaces so it can make a list of
interfaces for the capture preferences.

Whenever it's asked about interfaces, its standard error should be redirected
somewhere - if we're not reading error messages, /dev/null on UN*X and NUL: on
WIndows would probably be the right answer.
