Thanks, I hadn't noticed that yet.  It looks like it is caused by the CommView
file format being set to per packet encapsulation (meaning it can have multiple
link types [Ethernet / WiFi / Token Ring] in the same capture file), which
isn't supported by the pcap format (it has only one link type per file defined
at the top of the file).  I'm not sure if there is a way around this when you
have all packets in a file of the same link type - the wiretap (Wireshark's
capture file reading/writing portion) API probably doesn't support this at this
time.  Do you have a need to save CommView files as pcap from Wireshark?  I
know the CommView software can do it.
