Then maybe we're not talking the same language, because it's still present in
0.99.5.

Here's the reproduction steps:
- start wireshark
- File -> Open
- navigate to a directory with a number of files, I use my tmp download dir
- in the filter box, type a filter, I use a*.* (field background is green
  indicating a good filter!)
- Filter
- note that nothing happens

Hm. Perhaps that "filter" isn't a filename filter at all, but some sort of
filter to be applied to the network capture? I don't believe it:
- the context is wrong, we're opening files here, not actively looking at
  packets
- the field background colour says I have a good filter, and it's obviously not
  a good network filter
- the ? button says "No help topic is associated with this item."
