I don't really have a clue about the internal workings of that code, but could
someone in the know please check whether the attached patch fixes the problem?
The patch is so simple that I guess I'm missing something here: I just increase
the allocated buffersize by 1 and add the \n after the last char instead of
replacing it.
Committed as svn 19773.
Waiting for some confirmation that the fix doesn't break anything else before
closing this one.
